H. Askey Transport Ltd is a family-run business with roots stretching back to the late 1800s. Over the last century, they’ve evolved into a modern operation serving both domestic and European markets. Their fleet is as diverse as their history, ranging from small pickups to low loaders and crane-assisted vehicles. Supporting this complex operation is a partnership with TransMaS that has been central to their workflow since 2018.
We spoke with Transport Manager Darren Bingham about how a business with 100 years of tradition stays at the cutting edge of logistics.
Scaling with Confidence
The move to their current site in Dinnington was a big milestone for H. Askey. It gave them the space to branch out into new markets, but more work usually means more paperwork and more room for error. To manage the expansion, they needed a system that did the heavy lifting for them.

Darren credits the "uncluttered and fully customizable" interface of the TransMaS Scheduler for keeping the day-to-day manageable.
"You can easily spot vehicle and driver utilization issues," says Darren. "Planning work is as easy as drag-and-drop, with the work going straight to the drivers via the TransMaS app."
While the Scheduler remains a daily staple, H. Askey also relies on the Quoting system and Purchase Orders to keep their finances tight. Even the small stuff makes a difference; Darren notes that "simple additions like drag-and-drop document uploads were a major change that helped with workflow."
A Partnership Built on Feedback
Since joining the TransMaS family in 2018, H. Askey has been a key part of our feedback loop, providing the real-world insights that shape new features. Being based just a stone’s throw away in Dinnington, they often serve as a proving ground for new TransMaS features.
Currently, the team is helping us trial the next big step: AI-involved order creation. "It seems likely to be a game-changer for us," Darren notes. "It will free up administrative staff for additional duties."
This close-knit relationship ensures that when a new update is released, it has already been put through its paces in a real-world transport office. It’s this haulier-led development that keeps the system practical and effective.
